Wenting has re-joined Bergen Carbon Solutions, now as Technology manager, where she applies her expertise in Material Science and Electrochemistry to drive innovation in sustainable Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) technology. Her strong background aligns perfectly with the company’s core technology developments and future product advancement. Wenting will play a pivotal role in furthering BCS’s missions to develop valuable carbon materials from CO2 emissions.
Educational Background and Career Journey
Wenting holds a master’s degree in Metallurgy Engineering from Kunming University of Science and Technology (KMUST) and bachelor’s degree in Materials Science from Northeastern University (NEU) in China. She has a strong academic foundation and coupled with her industrial experience in advanced materials, makes her very relevant for development of sustainable technologies. She further enhanced her expertise by earning a PhD in Electrochemistry from Norwegian University of science and technology (NTNU).
Wenting expanded her knowledge through collaboration with Reykjavik University and Century Aluminum in Iceland. In 2021, she joined Bergen Carbon Solutions (BCS) as an R&D Engineer. A year later, she ventured into the hydrogen sector to pursue new challenges, contributing to NEL ASA with a focus on process and product development. Now, Wenting has returned to BCS, taking on a management position as Technology manager.

As Technology Manager, Wenting leads the core electrolysis team and oversees critical process development phases at BCS. She believes strongly in the BCS technology and is deeply passionate about advancing our technological innovation and is driven by a commitment to solving complex challenges.

From optimizing production processes for enhanced efficiency and developing next-generation battery solutions, Wenting’s leadership and expertise contribute significantly to BCS’s efforts to create high-value carbon materials from CO2 emissions. Her knowledge and experience plays a key role in supporting the company’s vision for sustainable advancement.
“Achieving success with new technology in CCU is challenging, but with the recent progress in process development we are well on our way to overcoming these challenges through our expertise and determination.” Wenting explains.
